You think of Pharrell Williams, and you think of fashion, aside from the fedora he seems obsessed with wearing, you probably also think of his range with Adidas.
Over past years, Pharrell has come out with consistent drops that add his traditional splash of colour and flair to Adidas’s range, including the ‘Statement Hiking’ range that came out this time last year which did not lie about the word ‘Statement’.
Last years collection met mixed reception, with the words plastered across the top of the shoe branded as ‘clouty’ and ‘obnoxious’ by many, but Pharrell’s new range seems to have taken a step back, which in many ways, is the right direction.
Whilst still offering the levels of colour we’ve grown to expect from his work, Pharrell does away with the scary wording, and instead subtly embosses some oriental language on to the top of his new range.
He also adds an African flair at various points throughout the shoe, whilst bright laces overflow the shoe as Pharrell apparently took steps to represent East Africa’s celebrated history of long distance running.
